This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) governs your access to our products and services (the “Content”) as a subscriber, program attendee or other individual not subscribed (“you”, “your” etc.) with Social Venture Circuit (“we”, “us”, “our”, “SVC” etc.) including but not limited to:
a) our website (https://socialventurecircuit.ca) (“Website”) including materials written, displayed or available for download and related systems and software,
b) SVC’s social media properties,
c) content presented during events and programs hosted by SVC, at times in partnership with other organizations and the related systems and software used,
d) online community forums managed by SVC, or
e) content delivered in-person or via an online meeting by any staff of SVC.
WHO WE ARE
Social Venture Circuit is a not-for-profit organization, federally registered in Canada. INTRODUCTION TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
SVC is committed to maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and security of any personal and business information that you provide to us. We strive to support individuals and business owners with their goals and projects while respecting your privacy expectations and protecting your Personal and Business Information (as defined below). To demonstrate our commitment to protecting your privacy, we have developed this Privacy Policy which describes how we will collect, use, disclose and protect your Personal and Business Information through the Website. By clicking on the “This site collects names, emails and other user information. I consent to the terms set forth in the Privacy Policy.”, you agree to all the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.
AMENDMENTS TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
SVC may amend this Privacy Policy at its sole discretion at any time, and in accordance with the amendment provisions set out in the Terms. These amendments may include, without limitation, adding to, deleting from or modifying any of the provisions in this Privacy Policy. If we make any material changes, we will notify you by email prior to the change becoming effective. We will post the most current Privacy Policy on the Website, and your use of the Content at any time is subject to the Privacy Policy as posted on the Website at that time. We encourage you to periodically check our Privacy Policy for the latest information on our current policy. If you do not agree with any of the terms or conditions in the amended Privacy Policy then you agree to immediately cease all use of the Content, delete any subscription accounts and cease in your dealings with us, which shall be your sole recourse and remedy in the event you are dissatisfied with the amended Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy may not otherwise be amended.
GENERAL
As a subscriber and/or program participant, we may provide areas on the Website or in the Content where you can post or present information about yourself and others and communicate with others or upload content. Such postings are governed by the Terms of Service Agreement. In addition, such information may appear in other Content or when searches are executed on the subject of your information shared. We cannot control who reads your posting or what other users may do with the information you voluntarily post. Therefore, we encourage you to exercise discretion and caution with respect to your personal and business information.
COLLECTION OF PERSONAL AND BUSINESS INFORMATION
Registration is required for you to use certain parts of the Content or Website as subscriber or program participant. Businesses may register at https://socialventurecircuit.ca/join-us/. As part of this registration, we will require that you submit certain information (“Personal and Business Information”) that is relevant to the purposes of the Content. We collect the following information from our subscriber’s registration information: first and last name, address, job title, organization name and type, email address, and password. We collect the following information from our subscriber’s profile information and any application forms submitted by you. You will update the profile with Personal and Business Information including but not limited to: business goals and objectives, the nature of your products, services and customers, and activities conducted within the business, and social media profiles.
Collection of information when you access the Content
When you access the Content, we automatically collect and store certain information about your computer or device and your activities including: the IP address of your computer; technical information about your computer or mobile device such as the type of device, electronic device identification number, web browser, other browser information (e.g. size, connection speed and connection type), and operating system or platform; your preferences and settings (time zone, language, etc.); and your internet provider or mobile carrier name.
Collection of information submitted by you
You may send electronic information or physical documentation to us in the following forms: your profile on the Website, Personal and Business Information, messages or transaction information relating to your interactions with the Content, receipts, personal data in text and picture form; and other participant-generated content provided to us in the normal course of your use of the Content, including but not limited to posts, profiles, comments, suggestions, forwarded messages, feedback information, usage information, transaction information, participation in events, service requests, and Traffic Data (as defined below).
Collection through interaction with the Content
We may collect your Personal and Business Information when you communicate it to us by use of one of our web forms or other interactions with the Content, by email, during events, or by any other means of communication.
The Content offers publicly-accessible blogs and allows you to create personal and business profiles which can be seen by others (collectively, “Public Content”). This Public Content and any of the information you post to the Website, our community forums or our social media properties, such as reviews and updates, are intended for public consumption. You should be aware that any information you provide in this area may be read, collected, and used by others who access them. We take no responsibility for any information which you or your employees, agents, contractors and representatives post or publish on the Content and you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless for any loss, cost, complaint, damage, claim or liability whatsoever arising from any such post or publication. We may post your testimonials along with your name in the Content from time to time if such information is provided to us.
We may collect and store information (including Personal and Business Information) locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage and application data caches.
Traffic Data
“Traffic Data” is collected by the Website, event management platforms and our third-party traffic analysis provider through the use of software as well as cookies that are stored temporarily on your computer. Together, these technologies help us manage the Content by identifying which content is effective.
Use of cookie and usage data
Cookies are small data files that are stored on a subscriber’s computer for record-keeping purposes. Cookies track where you travel on the Content and what you look at. A session ID cookie expires when you close your browser. When you log into the Content, your browser may ask if you want it to remember you as a registered subscriber of the Content. We do not use or disclose Personal and Business Information for purposes other than the identified purposes of the Content. From time to time, SVC may offer you the opportunity to participate in contests, giveaways and other promotions. From time to time, SVC may also ask you to participate in surveys designed to help us improve the Content. DISCLOSURE OF PAYMENT CARD INFORMATION
To become a subscriber or use certain parts of the Content, you will be required to submit credit or debit card account information to process payments. By submitting your credit or debit card account information through the Website, you expressly consent to sharing of your information with third-party payment processors.
DATA RETENTION AND ACCOUNT TERMINATION
You may terminate your subscription with us by sending an email to members@socialventurecircuit.ca to request termination. We will process the request and remove your profile, including all offered promotions, and access to the Content, but we may retain information about you for the purposes authorized under this Privacy Policy and the Terms unless prohibited by law.
CONSENT AND PRIVACY SETTINGS
By using the Content, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your Personal and Business Information by us in the manner described in this Privacy Policy. You are required to provide certain Personal and Business Information to become a subscriber and access the Content, such as name and email address. You may opt not to disclose certain other Personal and Business Information, but which may restrict access to certain features of the Content.
By providing your mobile phone number, you expressly consent to receive direct dial calls, from us for any urgent and administrative issues. When you sign up for an account, you are opting in to receive emails and notifications from the Content and other Content users such as other subscribers or partners signed up with SVC.
ACCURACY OF INFORMATION AND INDIVIDUAL ACCESS
We rely on you to ensure that the Personal and Business Information you enter into our system is as accurate, complete and up-to-date as necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used. You may make changes or corrections to your Personal and Business Information at any time by clicking on the Review Profile option on your home page after logging into the Website. When updating your Personal and Business Information, we may ask you to verify your identity before we can act on your request. You are responsible for ensuring that the information you have entered into our system is accurate, reliable and complete.
We also make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the information in our reports, displays, articles and support queries. However, you must verify all information created from your use of the Content. We recommend that you consult a professional before completing any government or regulatory filing or otherwise relying upon the information, as the use of this information is at your own risk.
THIRD PARTY SERVICE PROVIDERS
