May 25, 2021 – We are very excited to announce the launch of our new initiative, Startup Social Enterprise. Social Venture Circuit will be driving the programming offered by this new community for Startup Canada. With this program, we join an incredible network of Startup Communities that are connecting and supporting entrepreneurs for success across the country.
Startup Canada connects Canada’s entrepreneurs with the tools, community, and support they need to start and build their businesses. It is the gateway to Canada’s entrepreneurial ecosystem that points you in the right direction, eliminates barriers, and champions your needs to private and public sector partners. Their network and programs connect you with support organizations and peers across the country with industry expertise, regional knowledge, and funding to help you start and build successful businesses. Startup Canada has the amazing vision to make Canada the best place in the world to start and operate a business. We are honoured to offer support for more resources and collaboration with a social enterprise lens.
According to the Social Impact Report published by Startup Canada in April 2021, 40% of entrepreneurs are interested in having an impact-driven enterprise. And the number is growing. Social entrepreneurship provides the intersection between innovation and social impact that is crucial to sustainable economic development and the passion that social entrepreneurs bring to their work is so energizing. However, it is also very challenging for them to manage it all; many constantly worry about how to operate and fund sustainably. We would love to see these challenges become easier in the coming years and a thriving social enterprise sector that can effectively apply market-based mechanisms to provide solutions for social, cultural, and environmental challenges. Startup Social Enterprise will offer impact-driven founders with strategic resources to grow and opportunities to connect with like-minded changemakers and subject matter experts. In addition, we aim to bring more clarity and collaboration to Canada’s growing social enterprise sector.
Stay tuned for the first event hosted by Startup Social Enterprise coming up soon!
